Jenn Playford
Who: Designer and illustrator whose style has been described as "stylish linework and a brilliant color palette combine to create clean graphic imagery with an exotic twist." Founder of Furochic and author of Wrapagami, the Art of Fabric Gift Wraps, published by St. Martin's Griffin, NYC. Inspiration: Vibrant colors, textiles, decorative art, nature, ornamentation, her travels, India, Japan, Paris, Art Nouveau, vintage jewellery, the 18th and 19th centuries, Rococo, Morocco, kids books, glamour and from her extensive library, fabric and trinkets collection.
Mission: To bring colorful, fun and beautiful art to the market that makes one feel positive, inspired and creative.

Ichiroya Japanese online boutique
Background: Born in Toronto and grew up in Switzerland, Belgium and Germany where she got her travel bug that has since taken her to Asia and Africa. Jenn has worked with some great clients including La Perla, Delta Airlines, Klutz Publishing, Running Press, Random House, Food Illustrated (UK), Coca Cola, L.A. Times, Aussie Haircare, Virgin, Natural Health, Cosmo Girl and has been honored by Communication Arts Magazine and American Illustration.
In the moment: Jenn lives by the beach in Victoria, a little gem on Vancouver Island with her husband Scott and two children, Ava and Oliver.
Furochic
Who: Reusable cloth gift wrap in brilliant colors and patterns designed by Jenn Playford. 12 designs dye printed onto 100% cotton that measures 27”x27” square. Machine wash and iron, no scissors or tape required when wrapping. Easy to use, versatile, eco-friendly and fun!
Inspiration: Furoshiki, the traditional Japanese wrapping cloth used to embellish gifts as well as a handy everyday item to wrap, protect and carry.
Mission: To replace disposable paper gift wrap and bags, to be reused over and over again and to make gifts feel special and unique.
Background: Started as four silk screened wraps test-launched at the National Stationery Show in 2007. To satisfy demand, Furochic grew into a collection of 12 designs including two holiday patterns and are distributed internationally. Furochic has been featured on City TV and Global TV and in trade and consumer magazines. Look for Furochic in Wrapagami, a book on the art of wrapping with fabric, in stores by June 2009.
In the moment: Furochic is looking forward to embracing a world with less waste and hopes to be wrapping many gifts this year.
